We have officially kicked off our new charitable fund – “PAWS for Vets.” Throughout the next year, we will be raising funds to support companion animals for Veterans through our partner – Animal Friends. Did you know that the cost of a companion dog, with training, costs $350? Our goal is to raise a lot of money to place as many dogs as possible with Veterans from our Chamber communities of Bethel Park, Castle Shannon, and South Park.
We are already well on our way. As we take this adventure, we will be developing a section on our website to help track the journey.
Our first Chamber inductees into the PAWS for Vets, “Salute Hall of Vet Kindness” club is Mike Matiyasic, a 15 year US Air Force Veteran. Mike met his companion, Sonny, and it was an instant match!
We are so thrilled to have so many supporters step up for this amazing journey. Please visit our website to learn more about this new endeavor including supporters, and show them your support by helping our Vets.
To date, we have raised enough money for the placement of seven companion animals. Please spread the word if you know of a Vet - living in Bethel Park, Castle Shannon or South Park - who would benefit from a companion animal, please reach out to Animal Friends at www.thinkingoutsidethecage.org and read more under their programs - Animal Friends for Veterans.
